JIES receives TARGET grant!
James Island Elementary is a proud recipient of a 2010 Target Field Trip Grant. With the grant, the first grade will enjoy a trip to the Children's Muesum of the Lowcountry in downtown Charleston this Spring. More than a just a field trip, the educational programs at the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry are interdisciplinary, hands-on experiences unique to the Lowcountry. Thanks to Target for providing our first graders the opportunity to tie their classroom learning experience to the hands-on, interactive exhibits at the Children's Museum.

JIES CIC receives grant from Bi-Lo!
The purpose of the James Island Elementary Campus Improvement Council (CIC) is to support student achievement and development through positive changes to the school grounds. Comprised of teachers, assistants, the school nurse and parents, their CIC secures funding for playground improvement and school beautification projects. Mrs. Patterson, a kindergarten teacher at JIES, secured a grant from Bi-Lo Charities for $2,293.68. The total project will cost over $80,000 so if you are interested in helping the school out or would like to make a donation, please email christein_patterson@charleston.k12.sc.us.
